Deep Dive Dubai

Deep Dive Dubai, in Nad Al Sheba, is home to the Guinness World Record holder for the deepest swimming pool for diving, at 60.02 metres — around 15 metres deeper than the previous record holder. Housed in a 1,500-square-metre building shaped like an oyster, in a nod to the UAE’s pearl-diving heritage, the pool holds 14 million litres of fresh water kept at a comfortable 30°C, an amount equivalent to six Olympic-sized swimming pools.

At its base lies a sunken “city,” complete with an abandoned streetscape, an apartment, a garage and an arcade, which divers can explore after an initial guided tour. The facility is fitted with 56 underwater cameras, mood lighting and sound systems, two dry underwater habitats at 6 and 21 metres, and hyperbaric chambers for emergency decompression, and it also doubles as the region’s largest underwater film studio. Programmes range from Discover Scuba Diving and Discover Freediving to full certification courses, catering to complete beginners as well as world-class divers, with a minimum age of 10.
