Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies
The Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies is located near the northern entrance of University City in Sharjah, around 12 km from the city centre. The centre provides visitors and researchers with historical and geographical resources documenting the heritage and development of the Arabian Gulf, including materials from the private collection of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.
The centre contains several exhibition halls covering the history of the Gulf and Sharjah, including historical maps, rare coins, photographs, manuscripts, maritime history and early images of the region. Its collections also include displays relating to the Al Qasimi family, the UAE before its formation, Islamic history and the British operations against the Qawasim.
A major part of the centre is its archive and library, which provides access to more than 1.5 million historical and geographical documents and records related to the Gulf. The centre therefore serves not only as a cultural attraction but also as an important research and educational resource for visitors interested in the history of the Arabian Peninsula and the wider Gulf region.
