Etihad Museum, Dubai
The Etihad Museum is a museum that tells the story of the founding of the UAE. It is located in the Jumeirah district, on the site of the historic Union House, where the country’s founding fathers signed the declaration of union on 2 December 1971.
The museum is organized into eight permanent pavilions that take visitors on a chronological journey through the UAE’s formation, with a particular focus on the pivotal years between 1968 and 1974 — from a documentary overview of the region’s pre-union history, through the diplomacy and negotiations among the ruling sheikhs, to the signing of the Constitution and the birth of the federation. The final pavilion hosts rotating contemporary exhibitions connected to the UAE’s past and present. The museum also includes the grounds of the original Union House, a library, an education center, and a restaurant.
The Etihad Museum is a fascinating place to learn about the history and culture of the UAE. It is well-designed and informative, and it is a great place to visit for people of all ages.
