Al Adwani Tower

Located on a hill near Khorfakkan Port, Al Adwani Tower is a historic coastal landmark originally built in 1623 to guide ships entering the port. The tower served as a lighthouse and formed part of Khorfakkan’s historic network of defensive and observation structures. The original tower was demolished in 1985, and the landmark was later reconstructed in its original location.

The reconstructed tower preserves the historical character of the original landmark and provides views across Khorfakkan and its surrounding coastline. Together with Khorfakkan Fort, Al Rabi Tower and other historic structures, it represents the defensive system that protected the city, its harbour and important maritime and trade routes.

In 2026, Al Adwani Tower became part of the Khorfakkan Historic Towers and Forts group inscribed on the ICESCO Islamic World Heritage List. This recognition further highlights the tower’s importance within Sharjah’s archaeological and maritime heritage.
