Bassata Desert Village
Bassata Desert Village — “bassata” meaning simplicity in Arabic — is a traditional-style Bedouin camp in Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Wadi Desert, adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton and roughly 40 kilometres from RAK International Airport. Rather than a historic site, it is a purpose-built cultural experience designed to introduce visitors to Bedouin hospitality and desert traditions in an accessible, comfortable setting.
Guests are welcomed in the traditional manner with Arabic coffee and dates, and can spend time in majlis-style seating areas and lantern-lit tents around a campfire. By day, the camp offers camel rides, self-drive dune buggies and sandboarding on the surrounding dunes; in the evening, a barbecue dinner is typically accompanied by Tanoura and belly dance performances, along with henna painting and falconry displays on selected programmes.
With capacity for up to 2,500 guests, Bassata also operates as a venue for weddings, corporate events and larger private gatherings, alongside its regular visitor programme.
