Mleiha Archaeological Centre, Sharjah
Located in Sharjah’s Central Region near Jebel Faya, Mleiha Archaeological Centre is a major archaeological and cultural destination dedicated to the ancient history of the UAE and the Arabian Peninsula. The centre explores thousands of years of human settlement in the region, with the wider Mleiha landscape providing evidence of human activity spanning more than 210,000 years. The surrounding area is part of the Faya Palaeolandscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The centre’s exhibitions present archaeological discoveries from different periods, including the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and the pre-Islamic Mleiha period. Visitors can learn about ancient settlements, burial practices, trade and daily life through archaeological artefacts, interactive displays and reconstructed discoveries. The centre is also located close to important archaeological sites including the Mleiha Fort, ancient tombs and the Umm an-Nar tomb.
Beyond the indoor exhibitions, Mleiha offers guided archaeological tours and experiences throughout the surrounding desert landscape. Visitors can explore ancient tombs and archaeological sites, visit Fossil Rock and take part in activities such as hiking, desert exploration, stargazing and other guided outdoor experiences. Mleiha National Park further connects the archaeological heritage of the area with conservation, nature, adventure and sustainable tourism.
