Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah
Located in the Halwan area of Sharjah, the Sharjah Archaeology Museum explores the history of the emirate and its inhabitants from the Stone Age through the rise of Islam. The museum brings together archaeological discoveries from across Sharjah, offering visitors an insight into the development of human settlement, trade, technology and daily life in the region over thousands of years.
The museum’s collection includes pottery, jewellery, weapons, tools and other archaeological artefacts discovered at important sites throughout the emirate. Among the notable discoveries are a more than 2,000-year-old golden horse bridle from Mleiha and archaeological findings from a Stone Age burial site containing the remains of around 500 nomadic herders. These artefacts provide evidence of the region’s early communities and their connections with wider Arabia.
Visitors can explore reconstructed objects, archaeological models, interactive displays, information panels and educational films that help explain the discoveries and the people who lived in the region. The museum also includes activities and interactive exhibits suitable for younger visitors, making Sharjah’s archaeological heritage more accessible to families and students.
