Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Sharjah

Located in Calligraphy Square in the Heart of Sharjah, the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum is a cultural institution dedicated entirely to the art and heritage of Arabic calligraphy. Established in 2002 and housed in the historic Bait Hamad Al Midfaa, the museum explores the development of Arabic calligraphy from early Kufic scripts to later and more fluid styles.

The museum’s collection includes works by Emirati, regional and internationally recognised calligraphers displayed across different mediums, including canvas, wood, paper and ceramics. Exhibitions highlight the artistic and cultural significance of Arabic letters while showcasing different calligraphic styles and approaches.

In addition to its exhibitions, the museum provides educational programmes and interactive workshops that allow visitors to learn about and practise Arabic calligraphy. These activities are designed for a wide range of audiences, including children, seniors and visitors with disabilities.
