Sharjah Heritage Museum, Sharjah
Located in the Heart of Sharjah heritage district, the Sharjah Heritage Museum explores the traditions, customs and everyday life of the Emirati people and the residents of Sharjah. The museum is housed in a restored 18th-century pearl merchant’s home, offering visitors an opportunity to experience traditional Gulf architecture while learning about the emirate’s cultural heritage.
The museum’s six galleries explore different aspects of traditional life, including Sharjah’s natural environment, lifestyle, celebrations, traditional livelihoods, knowledge and oral traditions. Exhibits introduce visitors to customs and practices connected with religion, desert life, family traditions and traditional occupations, while historic objects provide insight into how people lived and worked in the emirate.
The museum also presents elements of Sharjah’s intangible heritage through traditional stories, proverbs, folk tales and interactive activities. Younger visitors can engage with puzzles and storytelling experiences, making the museum particularly suitable for families interested in learning about Emirati culture and traditions.
