Ajman Museum

Located in the Al Bustan area in the heart of Ajman, Ajman Museum occupies an 18th-century fort that served as the ruler’s residence and seat of government before being converted into a museum. The fort itself is an important example of traditional Emirati defensive architecture, featuring watchtowers and a large central courtyard.

The museum houses more than 3,000 artefacts documenting Ajman’s archaeological and cultural history, including manuscripts, pottery, weapons, archaeological discoveries and personal belongings of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi. Exhibits also explore traditional life, the pearl trade, irrigation systems and Ajman’s maritime heritage, with displays including traditional wooden dhows. Archaeological finds from Al Muwaihat include pottery and funerary jewellery dating back as far as 3000 BC.

The museum also incorporates interactive and educational experiences, with a dedicated smart app providing digital tours and audio-visual content in Arabic and English. Its combination of archaeological collections, traditional architecture and interactive interpretation makes it one of the strongest starting points for exploring Ajman’s history and heritage.
