Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi
Located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is a major museum and scientific research institution exploring the history of our planet and the evolution of life. Opened to the public in November 2025, the 35,000-square-metre museum takes visitors on a journey spanning 13.8 billion years, from the origins of the universe to the future of Earth.
The museum’s galleries explore subjects including the formation of Earth, the evolution of life, biodiversity, climate and the future of our planet. Its main galleries include The Story of Earth, The Evolving World, Our World, Resilient Planet and Earth’s Future, alongside specialised spaces such as The PalaeoLab, the Life Sciences Lab, Arabia’s Climate and The Human Story.
One of the museum’s highlights is Stan, a nearly complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton. Visitors can also see the Murchison Meteorite, containing grains that formed around seven billion years ago, and a 25-metre blue whale specimen. The museum places particular emphasis on the natural history of the Arabian Peninsula, including fossils that reveal how the Abu Dhabi region changed over millions of years.
Beyond its exhibitions, the museum operates as a scientific and educational institution, with research covering areas including zoology, palaeontology, marine biology, molecular research and Earth sciences. It also offers educational programmes, workshops, guided experiences and interactive activities for visitors of different ages.
