Red Fort, Ajman
The Red Fort is a historic fortress located in Al Manama, Ajman, and is one of the area’s most recognisable heritage landmarks. The fort was originally built with four rooms and two towers and later underwent a preservation project in the 1980s, during which a third tower was added. Its distinctive red-plastered exterior gave the fort its name, while sandalwood was traditionally used for its beams and roof supports.
The fort was used as an official residence by Sheikh Humaid bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi. Its traditional construction and preserved defensive features provide visitors with an insight into the architectural and residential heritage of Ajman during the early 20th century.
Surrounded by native trees and featuring a traditional drinking-water well, the Red Fort also provides a cultural stop for visitors exploring the inland Al Manama area. It can be combined with the nearby Manama Museum and other heritage attractions in the region.
