Umm Al Quwain National Museum

Umm Al Quwain National Museum is housed within the historic Umm Al Quwain Fort, also known as Al Ali Fort, in the old town of Umm Al Quwain. The fort dates back to the 18th century and historically served as the residence of the ruling family and the centre of government. After its restoration, it was opened to the public as a museum, preserving an important part of the emirate’s history and heritage.

The museum presents the history and traditional way of life of Umm Al Quwain through archaeological discoveries, historical objects and ethnographic displays. Its collections include artefacts from important archaeological sites such as Ed-Dur and Tell Abraq, as well as traditional weapons, documents, household objects and exhibits related to fishing, pearl diving, boatbuilding and other maritime activities that shaped the emirate’s economy and culture.

The museum’s location within the historic Old Town also allows visitors to experience the traditional character of Umm Al Quwain beyond the museum itself. Its exhibits provide an introduction to the emirate’s archaeological and maritime heritage, making it a useful starting point for exploring other historical sites across Umm Al Quwain.
