Suwaidi Pearls (House of Pearls)

Suwaidi Pearls is a working pearl farm at the base of the Jebel Jais mountains, founded by Abdulla Al Suwaidi in honour of his grandfather, one of the UAE’s last traditional pearl divers. Pearl fishing in Ras Al Khaimah dates back to the 12th century, and the farm gives visitors a hands-on introduction to an industry that once powered the region’s economy, long before oil.

Guided tours, run by descendants of pearling families, take visitors through the full story of pearling — from the days when divers worked for months at sea wearing only a tortoise-shell nose clip, to the modern floating pontoons where pearls are cultivated today. Guides explain how pearls form naturally and the techniques used in modern cultivation, and visitors typically finish with tea, juice and dates while browsing pearls for sale directly from the farm.

The experience is often paired with a visit to nearby Al Jazirah Al Hamra, giving a fuller picture of the pearling communities that once defined this stretch of coast.
