Hassa Buweid Castle

Hassa Buweid Castle is a historic watchtower and fortress located on a hill overlooking the plains of Al Manama in Ajman. Built in 1976 on the orders of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the castle was constructed to provide additional protection for the surrounding area. Its name, Hassa Buweid, refers to the white stones of the hill on which it was built.

The tower-shaped fort is reached by a stone staircase and features traditional architectural elements similar to other historic forts found throughout the UAE. Although relatively modern compared with many of the country’s older fortifications, it reflects the continued importance of defensive structures in Ajman’s inland communities following the formation of the UAE.

Situated in the village of Naseem within the Al Manama area, the castle provides visitors with views over the surrounding plains and makes a natural stop when exploring Al Manama’s heritage attractions. It is approximately 70 kilometres east of Ajman city via Al Dhaid Road (E88).
